RSS Feeds

The meaning of the word “Podcast” has been watered down in the last years, but we follow the old-school definition that

it’s not a podcast if it doesn’t have an RSS feed!

Import

When you have imported an existing podcast you will see a feed already created for you (with a name matching the MIME type of the audio files) which you can rename or configure according to your needs.

Tip

When you migrate your podcast from another hosting provider to Pods-Blitz, you should make sure (if possible) that the feed URL stays the same (Pods-Blitz let’s you freely choose any feed name). If the feed URL changes, e.g. because you don’t host your podcast on your own domain, consider asking your previous hosting provider to add a redirect.

In case your existing podcast has several feeds (to distribute the episodes based on audio encoding), you can import all of them and keep publishing them.

Use the button Import feed to import additional feeds (not Import podcast)

Caution

When you import more than one feed, start downloading enclosures and transcripts only after having imported all feeds.

New podcast

When you start a new podcast, you have to create a first episode and upload an audio file for this episode, before you can add and publish an RSS feed.

Each podcast can have more than one feed, but each feed can only reference audio files of one MIME type.

Feed update

Note

When you create, edit or delete an episode, all RSS feeds will automatically be updated. Any other changes will not be reflected in the RSS feed, in that case you have to manually update the feed(s) by clicking the Publish button.

Tip

No matter what your feed name or configuration looks like, podcast clients can always request a shorter feed by appending
?latest=n to the feed URL and thereby restricting the feed to contain only the latest n episodes, e.g.
https://mypodcast.org/feed/mp3?latest=10
